How Do I Program HomeLink®?

Programming HomeLink® really is as simple as pushing a button (or two). Sit in the driver’s seat and follow these simple steps:

  1. Locate the HomeLink® unit. It’s usually found on the ceiling of your car, above the center console and near the rearview mirror.
  2. There are three buttons on the HomeLink® unit. Simultaneously press and hold the first and third buttons until your car’s interior lights begin to flash. This may take up to 20 seconds.
  3. With the interior lights now flashing, press and hold the button you wish to program, while simultaneously pressing the open/close button on your garage door opener. Your interior lights should switch from a slow to rapid flash — indicating successful programming.
  4. Exit your vehicle and press the “learn” button on your garage door opener.
  5. Return to your vehicle and press the newly programmed button for at least two seconds. You may see your garage door opener lights flash, indicating that the system is connecting.

After you’ve successfully programmed your garage door opener, pressing the first and third buttons together will now act as the master reset — so be sure not to push them simultaneously while programming additional devices in the future.
