Pairing Your Chevy with Homelink

After a long day commuting home from Havana, you want to be able to get home safely and come right into your home. Learning how to program your Chevy garage door opener will help make that happen! Put in fresh batteries and follow these steps:

  1. Park with your vehicle facing your garage in Crawfordville.
  2. Turn on your ignition.
  3. Look for the Homelink button. It will be located on your rearview mirror, overhead console, or visor.
  4. Hold the remote control transmitter between 1 and 3 inches from the Homelink buttons.
  5. Press the remote control button until you notice the Homelink indicator light turn on. This means the pairing has started.
  6. Press the Homelink button two times to activate the system completely.
  7. If you see the Homelink indicator turns a solid color, that means pairing is finished! If it flashes repeatedly, it’s time to troubleshoot.

Troubleshooting your Homelink System

Now that you know how to program a Chevy garage door opener, it’s time to learn how to troubleshoot your Homelink device if needed. When your Homelink indicator light starts to flash, it means there’s a rolling code system stored in the memory of the garage door opener and remote device. Follow these steps to fix your Homelink:

  1. Exit your Chevrolet then find your garage door opener motor inside your garage.
  2. There should be a “Smart” or “Learn” button, it should be near the antenna wire on the back of the motor on most openers.
  3. Push the “Smart” or “Learn” button once. Your 30 second countdown to the next step starts now.
  4. Get back into the vehicle and press your Homelink control button three times to complete the activation sequence.
  5. Your garage door will now be activated.
  6. Now that you’ve programmed everything, Homelink and the original remote control transmitter can be used with the Chevy garage door opener.
